Our lab studies the pancreatic islet, which are small clusters of endocrine cells scattered throughout the pancreas.  Islet cells regulate whole animal metabolism through release of hormones such as insulin and glucagon.  We are primarily focused on understanding how the islet beta-cell regulates the biosynthesis and production of insulin and how these pathways become dysregulated during the development of diabetes.
